WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?
Neighbourhood Watch 4 Kids

On Wednesday, 27th January Neighbourhood Watch NT launched Neighbourhood Watch 4 Kids (NHW4Kids). This is an e-learning portal designed to assist caregivers in preparing their child to travel safely and independently within the community.

NHW4Kids takes children on an interactive learning journey to improve safety knowledge, increase confidence and empower them to trust their instincts and react appropriately to unsafe situations.

The portal covers topics including:
  • recognising and reacting to unsafe situations
  • identifying and using a Personal Network
  • understanding Early Warning Signs
  • the Three R's
  • what to do in an emergency
  • planning their routes and identifying potential safety hazards in a virtual neighbourhood

Personal Safety Sessions

The start of 2021 has seen us out-and-about delivering our  Personal Safety Sessions in partnership with Victims of Crime NT and Personal Protection Strategies.

On March 9th we delivered two sessions in Katherine: a senior's session and an open community session. These Personal Safety Sessions aim to improve an individual's sense of safety, increase their personal safety and provide an opportunity for community connection.

We are excited to be heading to Tennant Creek in April to deliver three sessions to the community!

Find out more in the what is coming up section below.
How Safe is Your Place?

Neighbourhood Watch NT and Victims of Crime NT have partnered to create How safe is my place?

This online self-assessment tool is free to use and helps you to easily assess your current home security levels and provides personalised advice to improve the security in and around your home.

The resource is founded on internationally recognised, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles.

So, how safe is your place?
