Special Commendation Recipients!

Neighbourhood Watch NT have been nationally recognised for our commitment to creating better connected and more inclusive Territory communities.

On Tuesday, 4 May 2021 we were awarded a Special Commendation from Relationships Australia through their Communities Connected initiative.

We were recognised in part, for our Physical Distancing shouldn’t be Socially Isolating campaign which encouraged Territorians to stay connected during the Covid-19 pandemic by highlighting the simple ways in which they could maintain and increase their connections within the community.

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?
Introducing our New Team Member!

We have recently employed a new Southern Community Development and Engagement Officer, Veronica. Veronica has joined the NHWNT team to help create safer, better connected and more inclusive neighbourhoods across the Southern region.

She has already hit the ground running and spent a week in Tennant Creek to help deliver our personal safety sessions and hosted an Alice Springs community event to introduce herself and get to know our members.

If you see her around, be sure to say hey!

Dancing our way to a Connected NT!

On Saturday, 27th March we hosted a free community Zumba session as part of our Neighbour Day celebrations.

This community event was a chance for individuals to increase their physical and mental health, connect with their community and meet the NHWNT team.

Alice Springs Community Event

On Sunday, 16th May our team held an Alice Springs community event at Olive Pink.

Our Marketing Coordinator, Ash, traveled to Alice Springs to meet with community members and stakeholders to discuss community safety concerns, a future Alice Springs specific campaign and to introduce our new Alice Springs based team member, Veronica.

Ash and Veronica also went live on air with Andy and Mark on 8CCC Radio to chat all things community safety and Neighbourhood Watch NT!
Tennant Creek Personal Safety Sessions

On 20th and 21st of April we delivered a series of Personal Safety Sessions to the Tennant Creek community. These sessions were delivered in partnership with Victims of Crime NT and Personal Protection Strategies.

Our session participants walked away with increased confidence, increased personal safety knowledge and an increase in practical safety strategies. All in all, an increase in how safe they feel in their community - which is what it's all about!

We are excited to continue offering these sessions to the wider community and to bring the sessions to Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Nhulunbuy and Batchelor in the near future!
